Jordan & Skala Engineers is currently providing MEP, Communications, and Security engineering design for the new Loews Sapphire Falls Resort at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. This full-service Caribbean-themed hotel will feature 1,000 rooms (including 77 suites) constructed around a lush, tropical lagoon and towering waterfall. The hotel will provide a casual, easy-going atmosphere and will “immerse guests in a highly themed resort environment using traditional island styling with modern touches,” according to the Loews Hotel project press release.

The hotel’s amenities will include 131,000-SF of meeting space, resort-style pool with a water slide, children’s play area, sand beach with fire pit, valet service, and fitness center. A full-service restaurant with scenic view and outdoor dining will feature a quick-service marketplace, and a poolside bar/grill.

The MEP design features a chilled water central plant, multiple electric services, and a distributed water heating solution. Hotel reservations to the Sapphire Falls Resort can be made starting in the spring of 2015 and construction will be completed in the summer of 2016.
