Oliver House Grand Opening

With construction completed, The Decatur Housing authority cut the ribbon at the Oliver House on Wednesday, September 26, 2012.  The Oliver House and Alan Wilson Terrace community is located just off the square in historic downtown Decatur, Georgia.  The development of the Oliver House, along with the newly completed Allen Wilson Homes, transformed an old worn out residential complex to a new clean and safe community.  The four-story Oliver House not only adds a fresh new appealing look to the community, it includes a green energy efficient design. Included in the building design are independent solar collectors for both domestic hot water and power that can be fed back into the Georgia Power grid.

The lighting is provided by high efficiency, low energy fixtures. The high efficiency heating and cooling system is supplemented by a geo-thermal system, and the building stays fresh with an additional upgraded ventilation system. To lessen the community water usage, the building and resident plumbing systems include efficient water saving fixtures and an outdoor irrigation system that is supplemented by a rain water collection system.

With the Oliver House up and running with the new green energy systems in place, it will set the trend for many future years of energy efficient design and construction for the community.  The Jordan & Skala design team was proud to be a part of the team.
