The Virgin Design District Hotel brings a unique, eye-catching high-rise to the Dallas Arts District. Unlike an ordinary rectangular hotel, the Virgin Hotel is V-shaped and points to Downtown Dallas, offering glamour at every turn. The Pool Club, a fourth-floor rooftop terrace, offers dining, cabanas, and a pool overlooking gorgeous views of the Dallas skyline. The hotel provides 97,538 GSF of guest rooms, a four-level parking structure, and up-scale amenities and decorations throughout the interior. This development is the first hotel in the Arts District, bringing new furniture shops, design studios, art galleries, and museums to the growing neighborhood.

The vision for the Virgin Hotel brand is to create an adventurous and fun experience for guests, and for that reason, our engineers delivered an equally creative approach to the system design of the hotel. One example is the achievement of a nine-foot ceiling height while utilizing a Dedicated Outdoor Air System (DOAS) unit with a two-pipe VRF system, which typically has height limitations.

Our team is very proud of the lighting that was completed in this hotel. In order to power the decorative lighting, we successfully coordinated with the lighting designers and vendors to complete multiple light system changes. Additionally, our team was in constant communication with the on-core power company to ensure that the design of the above-grade transformer vault followed all design standards and protocols.

Similar to lighting, acoustics is an important design component of any hotel project. Through high-level coordination with the acoustic consultant, our engineers ensured that the design of the lobby, ballrooms, and guest rooms allowed for sounds and vibrations to efficiently flow through those spaces.

Our Dallas team is honored to have performed mechanical, electrical, and plumbing services for one of the first Virgin Hotels to open in the United States.
