Timothy E. Milam, P.E., Principal

Tim Milam is a Principal at Jordan & Skala Engineers and has over 23 years of experience managing complex electrical engineering projects. Tim is a registered Professional Engineer in multiple states, and has an extensive background designing power, lighting, fire alarm, and related systems for a wide range of markets including, but not limited to, manufacturing/industrial complexes, continuing care retirement communities, commercial office, municipal, hospitality, and multi-family developments. Tim has acted as the leader of Jordan & Skala’s electrical engineering discipline for over two decades; he continues to provide a high level of technical expertise and leadership to engineers company-wide.

Hired as Jordan & Skala’s 13th employee in 1993, Tim has been instrumental in the firm’s growth to a 250+ person firm. Additionally, Tim has directly influenced the expansion of Jordan & Skala’s service offerings. In 2000, after years of being frustrated by the industry’s habit of poorly coordinated low voltage services, he developed Jordan & Skala’s turnkey communications, security, and audio/visual practices.

Tim leads his team to ensure designs are accurate, technically proficient, responsive to clients’ performance and budget requirements, and well-communicated throughout the entire design process. A highly-respected leader within the firm, Tim is committed to strengthening and developing Jordan & Skala’s young talent. Tim is a Vistage member, and has served a six-year term on the Board of Directors of the Greater Atlanta Electric League.

 

Andrew H. Smith, PE, CEM, LEED AP BD+C, Principal

Andy has over 21 years of experience in the HVAC industry including contracting/sales and consulting. Since joining Jordan & Skala in 1994, he has established three of our regional offices and currently serves as Regional Director for our West Coast operations. Additionally, he is licensed in all 50 states!

Andy has actively kept pace with the industry’s newest trends in “green” design, and has taken the lead in establishing a Sustainable Design department for JSE. He was honored to be named as one of the “40 Under 40” for 2010 by Consulting-Specifying Engineer. He is a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), the United States Green Building Council (USGBC), and the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE). Andy’s pursuit of innovation continues to lead Jordan & Skala into greater business opportunities.

 

Donald H. Sheffield, PE, LEED AP, Principal

Don has over 24 years of experience in mechanical engineering. His roles have included client relationship manager, project manager, and lead mechanical engineer for a wide variety of project types and industries, including criminal justice, healthcare, hospitality, institutional, and industrial facilities. Don joined Jordan & Skala in 2003, and is the firm’s Regional Director of Mechanical Engineering. Additionally, he is a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), and the American Correctional Association (ACA). Don’s determined leadership of our mechanical staff is fundamental to the success of our company.

Jim joined Jordan & Skala in 1994, and has more than 30 years of experience in mechanical systems design. His design and construction administration experience is extensive with an experience base comprised of residential, retail, commercial, hospitality, food service, industrial, correctional, and educational projects. In 2005, Jim relocated to open our regional office in Las Vegas, where he currently leads day-to-day operations and acts as Jordan & Skala’s Director of Mechanical Engineering. He is a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO), and the International Code Council (ICC).  Jim’s leadership and his vast experience in the HVAC industry are indispensable to JSE.

 

W. Ross Bush, PE, Principal

Ross Bush started his career with Jordan & Skala in 2000 as an electrical designer.  Ross is now a registered Professional Electrical Engineer, Firm Principal, and Team Leader overseeing a staff of engineers arranged into project specific multi-disciplinary teams. Additionally, he leads the development of Building Information Modeling (BIM) standards and training at Jordan & Skala Engineers. Ross has over 18 years of experience in the engineering consulting industry designing power, lighting, fire alarm, and related systems for educational, commercial, hospitality, and high-density, and multi-family projects. Additionally, Ross actively directs project teams to meet design, quality, and project schedule requirements.

As Project Manager, Ross is the client’s day-to-day contact and actively directs and participates in all aspects of the design and coordination efforts. This begins at the project onset and continues throughout construction completion, final field construction reviews, and project commissioning.  Ross’s commitment to providing a high level of service, concurrent with managing the client’s budget, makes him a sought after Project Manager. Additionally, Ross serves as a current board member of the Greater Atlanta Electric League.

 

Chris J. McDaniel, PE, LEED AP, Principal,
Director of Washington, D.C. Operations

Chris McDaniel has over 15 years of mechanical design experience, as well as over 10 years of HVAC installation and service experience.  Six years after joining Jordan & Skala in 2000, Chris established Jordan & Skala’s Washington, D.C. office.  As Director of the D.C. office, Chris manages day to day operations, oversees a dozen skilled staff, and is the lead project manager and single point of contact for all MEP and fire protection projects. Chris’ project experience includes, but is not limited to, managing and designing systems for office buildings, schools, hotels, churches, country clubs, student centers, dorms, garages, industrial facilities, and assisted living projects. Chris is a LEED Accredited Professional and a member of the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) and the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).  Chris’ unique combination of hands-on design and sustainability experience solidifies JSE’s presence in the Nation’s capital.

 

M. Jeffrey Sams, Principal,

Jeff Sams has over 20 years of experience in the field of electrical design and construction.  His project experience includes, but is not limited to, designs in commercial, institutional, retail, residential, automobile dealerships, recreational,  medical, and healthcare facilities.  An expert in the design and management of large projects, Jeff’s personal portfolio includes a 36-story, 700,000-SF, $50 million hotel, as well as a 52-story, $90 million condominium project.

Since joining Jordan & Skala as a Senior Electrical Designer in 2004, Jeff has become leader of JSE’s Charlotte office. Jeff is Charlotte’s lead project manager and serves as the client’s day-to-day contact.  Jeff coordinates the efforts of a multi-disciplined staff, ensures quality control of construction documents, and oversees operation of the Charlotte office.  Committed to providing the best service possible, Jeff is an astute listener who quickly builds rapport with project team members, uncovers the driving concerns for all project stakeholders, and ensures Jordan & Skala’s design provide the best value for the client.

 

Rex A. Drake, PE, Principal,

Rex Drake is Director of Jordan & Skala’s Austin office.  Rex joined Jordan & Skala in 2004 as an electrical engineer and the seventh employee in the Dallas office. Within a year he became a Team Leader with individual responsibility for managing multiple projects and multiple MEP teams.  Four short years later, Rex became a firm partner and manager of the Dallas office.  He has since been instrumental in growing the Dallas office from seven employees to a staff of over 50. Rex is now the Director of Operations for the newly opened and highly anticipated Austin office.

Rex has over 21 years of experience in MEP engineering and design project management for high-density, multi-family, student housing, and mixed-use projects as well as retail, medical, municipal, and educational projects. Rex is well versed in providing services within a design-build and design-bid-build delivery method; at least 50% of his clients are owners and general contractors who request design-build services. Rex’s seasoned design experience and inherent resourcefulness make him a “go-to” person for the toughest project challenges.

 

Kendy E. Guillaume, LEED A.P. BD+C, Principal, Director of Houston Operations

As the day to day manager of Jordan and Skala’s Houston office, Principal Kendy Guillaume’s experience in design and project management for the HVAC engineering consulting industry, combined with his experience in sales and as a commissioning and test and balancing engineer for the HVAC contracting industry is invaluable and led to him being recognized as one of Engineering News-Record’s “Top 20 Under 40″ in 2012.Truly understanding the idea to “begin with the end in mind,” Kendy has coordinated and managed projects servicing the medical, educational, commercial and multi-family markets; Kendy’s personal portfolio includes multi-family/mixed-use developments, medical office buildings, schools, retail, restaurant, office building, warehouses, and data center projects. A LEED Accredited Professioanl, Kendy has designed HVAC systems for over a dozen LEED Buildings ranging from basic certification to LEED Gold.

Kendy started his career with Jordan & Skala in the Dallas office in 2003 as a Mechanical Designer. He helped establish the Dallas office before opening and managing the Houston office. With Kendy’s sense of personal ownership of his projects and overall team success, Jordan & Skala clients are always assured they are in good hands.

Mark Bigbie, a Texas native, helped establish the Dallas office when it opened in July 2002.  With over 20 years of experience in the consulting engineering business, Mark has been involved in electrical design, coordination, and project management for residential, commercial, and industrial projects serving the healthcare, educational, retail, and hospitality markets.  Mark has extensive experience with LEED projects and his team of a dozen engineers embrace energy efficient design while ensuring the electrical system meets functional and budgetary requirements.  As a registered Professional Engineer in 49 states, Mark is involved in overall MEP coordination for projects, as well as interaction with other consultants and project clientele. Mark acts as Jordan & Skala’s Regional Director of Electrical Engineering and is also involved in business development/marketing for the Dallas office, providing basic electrical training courses for many of Jordan & Skala’s clients.

Ben joined Jordan & Skala’s Atlanta office in 1999 as a graduate mechanical engineer from Georgia Institute of Technology.  Ben has over 15 years of experience in the MEP consulting industry and is highly experienced with many different project types including multi-family apartments and condominiums, assisted living/skilled nursing, commercial high-rise office, medical office, retail, restaurant, correctional, and industrial warehouse.

Ben relocated and joined the Dallas office in 2005, where he has been an important factor in its successful growth and reputation as an industry leader. As Partner of the Dallas office, Ben assists with marketing, office management, and client relations.  Ben is also responsible for the on-going mechanical training and mentorship of the HVAC design staff, project management, and leadership training for all discipline leaders/project managers in the Dallas and Houston offices.
